CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION OFFICE
Career Technical Education (CTE) programs specialize in modern technologies, technical skills, and applied sciences that provide students with opportunities to benefit from hands-on, project based learning environments.
Mesa College CTE programs are generally designed to prepare students for immediate employment into living wage jobs and careers. These programs offer specialized training to develop job-related skills and preparation for any necessary certification/licensing.
Mesa College works with local industry to provide current programs with proven faculty leaders and in state-of-the-art facilities to meet the needs of the San Diego region. Many programs provide direct clinical experience, access to internships, work experience and other work-based learning opportunities. Courses are taught by top professors in real-world environments equipped with current, industry-specific technology, tools, equipment and intense curriculum.
The CTE office is responsible for managing the Strong Workforce State program funding and the Work-Based Learning Program.

In June of 2017, San Diego Mesa College’s Accreditation was reaffirmed through 2024 via two letters by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the regional accrediting agency that evaluates two-year colleges in California.
San Diego Mesa College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Following our most recent ACCJC team visit in 2017, Mesa’s accreditation has been reaffirmed through 2024. During the reaffirmation process, the College received commendations for the following.
Our institution has embraced self-reflective quality improvement since its first accreditation visit in 1966 and we continue to learn and grow as a result.
The Student Consumer Information Regulations of the United States Department of Education require all colleges and universities to provide their students access to certain information to which they are entitled to as consumers. Under these regulations, San Diego City, Mesa, and Miramar College and Continuing Education annually distributes to all students a notice of the availability of consumer information. SDCCD Police Officers provide the primary law enforcement response on and around the three colleges, six continuing education centers and various San Diego Community College business offices, classrooms and properties.
The department handles all patrol, investigation, crime prevention education, emergency preparedness and related law enforcement duties for the college district and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The SDCCD Police coordinate with the City of San Diego Police Department, operating under a mutual aid agreement in the campus areas and surrounding communities.

How we assess effectiveness:
The Mesa College Office of Communications provides public relations, social media, web development and support, graphic design, event promotions, photography, videos and other marketing and communications support to the campus community. We serve as the communications and media relations liaison for the greater San Diego community.
Marketing and Design Services
The Office provides marketing and promotional design services for Mesa College faculty, staff and administrators to promote programs, services and events. Requests for services can be made using our Project Request Form.
Photography
Staff provide event and program photography for the campus community. Photos can be viewed on the San Diego Mesa College Flickr Album. All photos are available for the public use, simply credit, “Photo courtesy of San Diego Mesa College”.
Newsroom
The Office of Communication maintains Mesa’s Digital Newsroom, which has over 3,000 visitors annually.
Public Relations/Media
The Office of Communications handles media inquiries, facilitates media events, interviews, news tips and feature stories. The QuickACCESS section of the Mesa College Newsroom features content and information for news media outlets, including our most recent Press Releases.
Web
The Office supplies web design and development support for the campus. The Mesa College Home Page has over 7 million visitors every year, and supports nearly a dozen associated applications. The Office provides training for content managers and editors, along with user analysis, behavior tracking, and feedback mechanisms.
Social and Digital Media
The Office manages and promotes across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and LinkedIn. Official College hashtags include #SDMesaCollege, #WeAreMesa, and #Allin4Students. The Office also creates and manages digital media advertising across social media platforms and in conjunction with broadcast media (radio) and various websites.
