DESCRIPTION:Star Events and ALTRES Staffing are holding a virtual Career Expo on Wednesday and Thursday to connect employers and career seekers in a safe environment.Star Events and ALTRES Staffing are holding a virtual Career Expo on Wednesday and Thursday to connect employers and job seekers in a safe environment.Star Events and ALTRES Staffing are holding a virtual Career Expo on Wednesday and Thursday to connect employers and job seekers in a safe environment. \nBefore the pandemic\, the annual Career Expo had been held at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall\, but organizers said that going online this year allows the new virtual event to expand its reach to the neighbor islands. \nThe free event allows job seekers to visit the virtual booths of some of Hawaii’s leading companies looking for quality employees. \nJob seekers will be able to learn about available jobs\, initiate private chats with company recruiters\, and upload resumes confidentially\, organizers said. \n“Last year\, thousands of people came through our Career Expos to connect with hundreds of recruiters and HR managers throughout the state\,” said Denise Ching\, classified advertising manager at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. “Hundreds of people left the event with a life-changing career move or hire.” \nUS VETS\, a Career Expo partner since 2018\, will return to host Workshops for Veterans to provide free services for veterans who need assistance with job placement and job training. \nThe expo runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at HawaiiCareerExpo.com\, where you can also find the official guidebook. Although the event is free\, registration is recommended. \nWhy you should attend \nMeet local employers\, from the comfort of your home : You’ll be able to see what groups are hiring\, and what positions are open now. No special equipment or software needed; just your computer or smart device. \nChat online with recruiters : During the event\, you’ll be able to have an initial text chat conversation with recruiters. \nPut your best foot (virtually) forward! : You may have been sheltering at home for a while\, but this is your chance to connect with businesses and talk about your next job. Register now!
